October Favorites
Controversially (very), October is my least favorite month. Not because of the season — I love fall, I am from Washington after all — but because “October” just gives me a bad vibe. Yanno? Maybe it’s because this is one of my busiest months of the year, or maybe because I don’t like Halloween (oops, controversial again) so I just want to get the month over with.
BUT, my favorite part about October is being able to watch Hocus Pocus and It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. LOVE those movies it really gets me into a fall vibe. And I’m one of the people that is Christmas-ified by November 1st (I say as I write this post on November 3rd while watching a Christmas movie and I with plans to put up my small dorm-friendly tree this week:).
Anyways, let’s get into my favorites from October (I’m trying to find the positives)!
PRODUCTS:
EOS Cashmere Body Wash (it smells soooo good and refreshing. It reminds me of my mom’s cedar wood chest in my parents’ room that she keeps the cashmere in during the summer so the moths don’t get it)
Swiffer mop — what would I do without you
My 10-step skincare routine and products I swear by
Pinterest — rebranding my life on there obviously
My Oura Ring — my favorite practical product and pretty accessory — if you’re looking to spurge, spend your money on this instead of a bag or a pair of boots. I’ve been getting the best sleep of my college career this month (also thanks to the fact that I don’t have a roommate right now) and it’s so satisfying to track it with my Oura app and be able to brag about “yeah, I got 10 hours of sleep last night.” (clearly I’m not taking enough classes).
ACTIVITIES:
LA girls trip! — At the beginning of the month, 4 of my friends and I took a weekend trip to Los Angeles to see Meghan Moroney’s Am I Okay? Tour and we had the bestest time. It was the entire weekend so we hit up the Grove and Rodeo Drive. We had movie nights in the hotel and it was everything.
Tuesdays! — random “activity,” but all of my major activities of the week take place on this day. My friends and I have weekly tennis lessons in the middle of the day, so we get cardio and also get our tan on. My coach says I’m improving so I’m super excited to have picked this up as a hobby. Then I have heated mat pilates in the evening and I love my instructor she is the sweetest. Then my friends and I watch Dancing With The Stars!! We cozy up on the couch in the common room and root for our fav couples (I vote for Robert, obviously, Dylan and Alix every week). Also we’ve tried everything to get ourselves tickets (LA isn’t that far) including signing up for On Camera Audiences tickets release and DMing pros, but no bites. Regardless, we have the bestestt time, and a couple tears were shed during Dedication Night (as always, honestly). If anyone had connections hit me up.
My projector — every night since I’ve gotten it I’ve projected movies onto my blank wall in my dorm by myself or with my friends (we used my bed as a couch and snuggled in and it was so wholesome). I watched Serendipity last night for the first time and rated it on my Letterboxd (@katiee_belle).
I’m obsessed with the Rooftop Cinema club — this month we saw Hocus Pocus and it was spooooky! (and cold, oh my gosh, I never thought 60 degrees would become cold for me, California is changing me)
MOVIES:
Go see my Letterboxd (@katiee_belle) for my reviews!
Maintenance Required (Madeleine Petsch’s new movie)
Roofman (saw this one with my parents on Parents’ Weekend)
Just Like Heaven (Elaina is from San Francisco and was missing home so I suggested this one)
Just My Luck
Almost Fate
Regretting You (BRING BACK ROMCOMS)
Not a movie, but Nobody Wants This. Damn I love this show. Not done yet no spoilers! (Update: I finished and lowkey am disappointed with the ending it’s the same as last season)
So, yeah! Those are my favorites from this month, and I hope you draw inspiration or already have your own small favorite things and indulgences that make you happy!
